Off-road use is a violation of the rental agreement and is not allowed.
- For UAE Resident Visa Holders: A valid UAE Driving License.
- For Visitors (on visit/transit visa) from GCC Countries: A valid GCC country driving license.
- For visitors from all other countries other than GCC countries (on visit/transit) a valid international driving license.
The type of driver's license you need depends on your residency status in the UAE:
UAE Residents:
- A valid UAE driving license held for a minimum of one year is required.
- You will also need a copy of your Emirates ID.
Non-Residents (Visitors):
- An International Driving Permit (IDP) is highly recommended before arriving in the UAE.
- However, visitors from the following countries can drive with their home country's license without an IDP:
- GCC Countries: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait
- European Countries: Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, Finland, Spain, Netherlands, Greece, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland, Turkey, Denmark, Portugal, Austria, France, United Kingdom, Norway, Romania, Luxemburg, Latvia, Serbia, Lithuania
- North American Countries: United States of America, Quebec State in Canada
- East Asian Countries: Japan, Australia, Singapore, People's Republic of China, South Korea, New Zealand, Hongkong
- African Country: South Africa
Allowed to use 250 km per day and additional 3 AED per km will be paid by the hirer for daily rental.
Parking in UAE is readily available. Parking along the roadside is paid depending on the zone you are parked in. You can get parking tickets via parking meters that are installed all over the UAE. You can also park your car by SMS-ing to the designated numbers based on your location ‘[Number plate] [Area code] [number of parking hours]’ to ‘7275’.
No credit card is needed! Secure your rental and cover any deposit fees with a bank transfer or cash upon car delivery.
The deposit may be remitted through either cash or bank transfer. Should you opt for a bank transfer, kindly ensure that the transaction is executed in AED currency, with all associated transfer charges borne by you. Failure to cover the transfer fees may result in the deposit being calculated as received. The deposited amount will be utilized to offset any incurred Salik charges and traffic fines, if applicable. The remaining balance of the deposit will be refunded after 21 days, following the deduction of any accrued Salik charges and traffic fines.
Most roads in the U.A.E. are radar controlled and it is in your interest to adhere to the speed limits which are clearly highlighted on road signs. All traffic violations will be charged to the renter along with a service fee and VAT.

While we handle traffic fines and parking notices incurred during your rental, you'll be responsible for the associated costs. We recommend driving according to local traffic regulations to avoid any penalties. Upon receiving the official notice, we'll inform you and invoice the total amount, including the fine and any processing fees.
In the event of a breakdown, Sandcity Car Rental offers 24-hour roadside assistance. Simply contact our team for help. If you're involved in an accident, leave the vehicle where it is (unless it's a minor obstruction) and call the police on 999. Stay with the car and obtain a police report, which you'll need to submit to Sandcity Car Rental for insurance purposes.
You can absolutely have a co-driver on your rental agreement at no additional charge. To ensure a smooth rental process, please make sure both the primary driver and the co-driver's documents, such as passports and valid driver's licenses, are submitted during the booking process.
A grace period of 2 hours is provided, which converts to one full day rental if exceeded.

No. Towing is a violation of the rental agreement and is not permitted under any circumstances.
While we'd love to accommodate trips across the border, Sandcity Car Rental vehicles are currently restricted for travel outside the UAE due to both our insurance coverage and regulations set by Oman and Saudi Arabia. This means trips to these neighboring countries are not currently allowed.
At Sandcity Car Rental, we follow a simple fuel policy: return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when you rented it. If you don't, we'll charge you for the missing fuel plus a service fee to refill the tank.
In the event of an accident involving any Sand City vehicle, it is incumbent upon you to bear 10% of the repair costs. Alternatively, you have the option to purchase full insurance coverage for comprehensive protection.
